"My US/ICOMOS International Intern Program experience in Bulgaria was personally challenging and professionally rewarding. I am proud of the result of my efforts and confident that the internship will prove to have a positive impact on my future career in the preservation field.'"
Cory's internship involved surveying and documenting an historic building of national significance in Bulgaria--the beautiful Stambolyan House and its site in Old Plovdiv. Taking measurements and documentary photographs on site and becoming intimately familiar with the building, as well as exploring the historic environs of the town itself, were particular highlights. Architect Alexandra Vadinska served as supervisor, translator, and friend, contributing to his overall well-being in the country and for the success of the project.
