15th Annual US/ICOMOS International Symposium

CONFLUENCE OF CULTURES: World Heritage in the Americas

31 May - 2 June, 2012
San Antonio, Texas

Registration is now open.

The year 2012 is the 40th anniversary of UNESCO’s World Heritage Convention, and we wish to celebrate this event with ICOMOS colleagues from all the Americas and from around the world with the intent to launch a permanent process of regional cooperation that will ensure greater participation and contributions to the spirit and the aims of the Convention.

The 2012 US/ICOMOS International Symposium will be an opportunity to celebrate the cultural heritage of the Americas.  In particular, attention will be brought to the five San Antonio Missions, including The Alamo.  Collectively, the San Antonio Missions have “outstanding universal value” as defined by the guidelines for the World Heritage Sites.  A World Heritage nomination has been written for the Missions, now on the US “tentative list” for consideration.

Registration is now open

Fees will increase after 30 April. Pre-registration closes 30 May.

Please note space is limited at the Welcome Reception Thursday evening and will be limited on a first-come, first-serve basis.
